The one week break
The one week break is just about to end but not without having my weekly dose of soccer wif the MIB guys in sch.. so lets see what i did for this week..
To be fair to myself, i did put in study hours that i have never put b4 in any previous 1 week break. Whether or not i fully optimised the time to study the maximum amount is subjective.. However.. i did what i could and i have no regrets.. As my fren said.. no matter how much u study, u never feel its enough.. But did i study that much to feel that unsatisfied??
Well.. i have been watchin a lot of documentaries on tv and my feelings are that the world is not moving in the right direction. Its easy to say this from the comfort of home but at least i would like to highlight some sad facts of the world today.
In a world of 6 billion people why is it that almost 1/3 do not have daily access to clean water and sanitation facilities? And yet here we are in sunny singapore, leaving the tap running wastefully for minutes. Its worse when we consider that our tap water is perfectly portable! Why is it that life is thus unfair to people? But shud we jus accept the fact? Or is there things tat we can do to rectify them. As normal citizens, perhaps we dont have the power to move mountains or to play God.
At the very least, we can act as proper citizens. Giving way on the mrt, being polite to customers, treating animals properly and all. In the 70 odd years that a human being lives, its not about how much he learnt, how much he achieved or how much wealth he has amassed. Its about how much he has contributed to society. And contribution need not be to win olympic medals for your country or to create new inventions to make life easier.
Its about bringing a smile to those who have no reason to smile. Its about feeding a stray cat or dog that has visible ribs due to emaciation. Its about giving just a little to charity so that while you have a sumptous meal.. someone else is just as happy to have a meal at all. Its about treating people with AIDS just as normal human beings who through fate or otherwise get to see God earlier than most others. In general, its about caring..
So guys.. lets all care and share. So that when its time to leave, we wud have left behind our legacy is someone's smile, some community's future or even a rose that is about to bloom after our demise..
